The salt is a valuable ingredient in the chemical industry. It was and remains a raw material for the manufacture of caustic soda, soda ash and chlorine, from various electrolytic processes.
Caustic soda for making detergents and soap: Caustic soda is used in huge quantities by several industries, mainly the chemical industry such as cleaning products. It is also used in laboratories for plenty of determinations as well as hydroxide precipitation in addition to its use as a reagent in chemistry.
Sodium carbonate for multiple uses: It is mainly used in the manufacture of glass and glazes for ceramics. It is a component in laundry detergents. It represents also an intermediate to produce phosphoric acid or silica.
Chlorine for making bleach: Involved in many common everyday applications, it is one of the components of bleach, serving as a biocide to kill bacteria and other microbes, as well as its use in pool water treatment. It’s also used in industrial bleaching of paper and the production of antiseptics, dyes, insecticides and even PVC.
